Coach Lyndsay has re-qualified in 30 minute (half marathon) Kettlebell Sport to represent Team Canada at the International Kettlebell Marathon Federation (IKMF) World Championship in Spain this May 2025.
Coach Lyndsay has competed and lifted kettlebells in the 10 minute category for over 14 years, Her dedication to relearning a new form of kettlebell lift and achieving a spot on Team Canada is an incredible achievement, showcasing her dedication, hard work, and passion for the sport.
A 30-minute half marathon with a kettlebell is an advanced endurance event in kettlebell sport that challenges an athlete’s strength, stamina, and mental toughness. The goal is to complete as many reps as possible within the 30-minute timeframe. Unlike traditional kettlebell sport events, athletes in this format are allowed to switch hands as many times as they’d like — offering some flexibility in pacing and grip management — but they cannot put the kettlebell down at any point. Once the set begins, the kettlebell must remain in motion or in the rack/overhead position until time is up.
One-arm long cycle is a kettlebell sport event that combines strength, endurance, and technical skill. In this discipline, the athlete uses a single kettlebell to perform repeated cycles of two key movements:
Clean – swinging the kettlebell from between the legs and bringing it to the rack position, where it rests securely on the forearm and against the body
Jerk – using leg drive and upper body coordination to explosively lift the kettlebell from the rack position to an overhead lockout.
One clean + one jerk = one repetition.
In competition formats like the 30-minute half marathon, athletes aim to complete as many reps as possible within the time limit. They are allowed to switch hands as often as they like, but they cannot set the kettlebell down — maintaining constant control and movement for the full duration.
